Bantu Dereva – Driver Policy

This Driver Policy governs your use of the Bantu Dereva Platform to provide transportation services to Passengers. This Policy forms part of, and must be read together with, the Bantu Dereva Driver Terms & Conditions. By registering or operating as a Driver, you agree to comply fully with this Policy.

1. Definitions

  • Platform: The Bantu Dereva App, systems, and related services.
  • Driver: You, an independent contractor providing transportation services.
  • Passenger: A user requesting a ride through the Platform.
  • Fare: The amount payable for a completed Trip.
  • Subscription Fee: The fee paid for access to the Platform and Trip requests.

2. Registration & Account Requirements

  • You must submit accurate personal and vehicle information and provide valid documentation, including:
    • A valid Tanzanian commercial driver’s licence;
    • Motor vehicle insurance suitable for public hire;
    • Vehicle registration and inspection certificates;
    • Any additional documents required by Bantu or LATRA.
  • You are responsible for keeping all documents valid and up to date.
  • Bantu may audit Driver accounts and suspend access for missing, expired, or false information.
  • Your Driver account is personal and non-transferable.

3. Subscription & Platform Access

  • An active subscription is required to receive Trip requests.
  • The Subscription Fee grants access to the Platform only and does not guarantee Trip volume or income.
  • Bantu may modify subscription plans, pricing, or features with prior notice.
  • Upon suspension or termination, all Platform access and branding rights cease immediately.

4. Providing Transportation Services

  • Operate professionally and in full compliance with traffic laws and LATRA regulations.
  • Only transport the requesting Passenger and permitted guests.
  • Maintain a safe, roadworthy vehicle and a GPS-enabled smartphone with sufficient data.
  • Do not solicit off-platform payments or Trips.

5. Fares & Payments

  • Fares are calculated automatically by the Platform in line with approved pricing structures.
  • Bantu facilitates Passenger payments and credits eligible earnings to your Driver account.
  • No earnings are payable while a subscription is inactive or suspended.

6. Taxes & Operating Costs

  • You are solely responsible for all operating expenses, including fuel, maintenance, insurance, and data.
  • You are responsible for declaring and paying all applicable taxes on your earnings.
  • Bantu may disclose Driver data to authorities where legally required.

7. Ratings, Conduct & Performance

  • Passengers may rate Drivers after Trips.
  • Bantu may apply minimum performance, rating, or activity thresholds.
  • Consistent poor performance, complaints, or safety issues may result in suspension or deactivation.

8. Data Protection & Privacy

Personal and Trip data is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy. Drivers must not misuse or disclose Passenger information.

9. Liability & Indemnity

The Platform is provided “as is.” Bantu does not control how Drivers operate vehicles and is not liable for accidents, injuries, losses, or Passenger conduct. You agree to indemnify Bantu against claims, fines, or damages arising from your actions or regulatory breaches.

10. Suspension & Termination

  • You may stop using the Platform at any time.
  • Bantu may suspend or terminate access immediately for policy violations, safety risks, expired documents, unpaid subscriptions, or regulatory non-compliance.
  • Subscription fees are non-refundable.

11. Amendments

This Policy may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after updates constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

This Policy is governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.

By operating as a Driver on Bantu Dereva, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Driver Policy.
